some WoT stuff to lighten the mood...

Apparently the last book of WoT is now three books. Too much story to compress into just one book according the Brandon Sanderson. Not that I'm complaining, the more to read the better hahaha

The title for the first upcoming trilogy ending will be "The Gathering Storm".

Official blurb from TOR below:

TOR ANNOUNCES THE GATHERING STORM, BOOK TWELVE OF ROBERT JORDAN’S LEGENDARY WHEEL OF TIME® FANTASY SERIES

Tor Books is proud to announce the November 3rd, 2009 on-sale date for The Gathering Storm, Book Twelve of The Wheel of Time and the first of three volumes that will make up A Memory of Light, the stunning conclusion to Robert Jordan’s beloved and bestselling fantasy series. A Memory of Light, partially written by Jordan and completed by Brandon Sanderson, will be released over a two-year period.

Robert Jordan, one of the greatest storytellers of the 20th and early 21st centuries, passed away in 2007 after a courageous battle with the rare blood disease amyloidosis. Brandon Sanderson, the New York Times bestselling author of the Mistborn books, was chosen by Jordan’s editor—his wife, Harriet McDougal—to complete the final book.

The Wheel of Time series has sold over 14 million copies in North America and over 30 million copies worldwide with translations into 28 languages. The last four books in the series were all #1 New York Times bestsellers, and for over a decade readers have been eagerly awaiting the conclusion to the epic story.

Harriet McDougal said on the process behind A Memory of Light: “The scope and size of the novel was such that it could not be contained in a single volume, It was a piece of marvellous good fortune that Brandon Sanderson undertook the work. He is a great pleasure to work with, as well as a wonderful writer.”

President and Publisher of Tor Books, Tom Doherty, also expressed his happiness with A Memory of Light, saying: “It is a magnificent closure to a great American epic fantasy whose journey began almost twenty years ago. There is no way Robert Jordan would have squeezed it to a single volume, and somehow it seems fitting that what began as a trilogy will also end as one.”

The first ever JordanCon will take place this April 17th – 19th, 2009 in Alpharetta, GA. Harriet McDougal, Tom Doherty, Brandon Sanderson, and other members of “Team Jordan” will attend as featured guests and speak personally on The Wheel of Time and The Gathering Storm and the stories behind the rich literary legacy of Robert Jordan. JordanCon will also include a special preview of The Gathering Storm.

This year will also see major publications of Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time comic books and graphic novels with the launch of The Eye of the World comics in May and the New Spring graphic novel with bonus material in November. The Dabel Brothers will be releasing the comic book series, which will then be collected and published as graphic novels by Tor Books.

Universal Pictures acquired the movie rights to The Wheel of Time in August 2008, and currently plan to adapt The Eye of the World as the first movie.

Melancholy

Feeling melancholic again tonight...cause I'm thinking about that stuff again...

Sometimes, I wonder why I torture myself so much...

Of course I want to be happy with my life as much as any other person out there...but why did I have to choose such a hard way to go about it.... :(

It's not just hard, but it now seemingly borders on the impossible day by day....

Just seeing you happy makes me happy but it hurts as well at the same time...

I'm missing the older days...back when we can just talk about any stuff.

At the least I can still say, Good night. Even when you can't seem to hear it anymore...it's the thought that counts right? :(

Sad panda is very sad...

Ever felt as if you were the most unwanted and useless person in the world..... EVER...

Useless as a brother, or a friend, or an anything...

What do you do when the one person you ever wanted to be a best friend is getting farther and farther from you everyday?

When you feel that each time you move one step forward, the other one moves two steps back.

When your jokes no longer seem funny.

When long stories suddenly become one word replies.

When whispered secrets become silent.

When you feel as if you're back to being just a stranger.

What do you do if you felt so betrayed and used?

That it might as well all just been an act to get something.

But you don't want to admit to yourself the possibility.

To even think that it might be hurts so much.

What do you do when you want to just forget but it makes you sadder that you might do.

When all it would take is a simple Hi! and you're happy all over again.

When just thinking of before can still make your troubles go away.

What do you do when you try so hard to get it back and all you get is Meh!

What do I do?????

:(

Late Night Dilemma Rant

Y'know how some people are so sensitive to light? Well, I guess I'm one of those people especially during at night when I'm trying to sleep already.

Thing is, I have to share my room with my siblings... and one of them ... has this ANNOYING habit of sleeping late. I couldn't care less personally EXCEPT THAT this sibling also keeps a light on to do stuff while awake...

It so happens that this "GOD FORSAKEN LAMP" is positioned just right to shine its annoying light in front of my eyes. SO it doesn't matter if I want to sleep early as long as this light is on, I just cant phracking sleep.

On top of that there are these DAMN STUPID ANNOYING NOISY SMOKE BELCHING CRASHING CLANGING BANGING TRUCKS that pass through the road beside our house all day and night long. I mean, how's a guy suppose to get a decent night sleep with all these distractions.

RAAAWWWWWWRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!

(Of course, this doesn't even include the occasional late night phone calls of the same afore-mentioned sibling, that for some reason always... always... always end up with her shouting at whoever she is talking with. What a life...)

Ode to the great Dragon

Nearly one month already since James Oliver Rigney Jr., more popularly known as the author Robert Jordan, has passed away and I still can't believe it.

Creator of the Wheel of Time series of books, with a story reaching 11 books already of projected 12. I lament the fact that Robert Jordan was unable to completely finish his work of more than 15 years already. (The first book was published in 1990). I have thoroughly enjoyed each and every hour I may have wasted reading and sometimes re-reading my eleven book collection that may be now be uncompleted. I hate you Amyloidosis. You are a most evil blight on humanity.

Here you can see my most probably to be uncompleted collection :(

So long Robert Jordan

It has been a most fascinating journey through RandLand.

"The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass." but your story shall forever stay with me.

Turbo C, a blast from the past and the future!

Like most of the other people I know who used C (for the uninitiated, C is a programming language), they probably started programming using the Turbo C IDE from Borland. And why not, It was fast, full featured and easy to use. The interface was quite boxy but then, so was every other MS-DOS program there was at that time.

My first encounter was during high school. Surprisingly, I still used it during college as well which was nearly a full decade after the first release of Turbo C/C++.

These days, the languages in the limelight are a dime a dozen, the major ones being Java or .NET ones. I'm thinking Borland has something up their sleeves again this time because in just a few more hours (as of writing) they will be releasing all new version of their Turbo products. Most notably, Turbo C#. Borland will have the customary Professional editions (a.k.a comes with a pricetag) as well as the free Explorer editions.

Will this be another runaway hit for new and old C# users? Will I, ten years later, be able to see budding young programmers compile their first C# program (Hello World hahaha) on Turbo C# ver.xxx. Only time will tell.

For now, you can go to the Turbo Explorer homepage and see the countdown of the release.

Have a nice day! : )

Who you gonna call?

The Ghostbusters of course.

And I wish I could right now.

I just had the most creepy afternoon ever.

We've all heard about ghost stories and paranormal experiences and usually, we take it with a grain of salt.

However,I for one can now attest to the fact that "You ain't seen nothing yet" until you have seen it for yourself.

My story starts at about 1:20 pm of today (08-28-2006). I was in room with my mother and father watching tv. We have this old-fashioned cuckoo clock ( a souvenir from Switzerland) that needs it's chains to be pulled every few hours or so to keep on running. Kind of like old wristwatches and clocks that need to be winded every so often. This clock is more or less positioned near the top right corner of a door to the toilet. I'm seated and facing the opposite of where the toilet door and the clock is.

All of a sudden, I hear the sound of the clock chains being pulled. Now, this was not a very common occurrence since we all usually forget to pull the chains on the clock so I looked to see who did it. To my surprise, there was no one there. Then, at about the same time, the door to toilet slams close, as if somebody was there and did not want me to see who it was. This creeped me out since both my parents were asleep and there could not have been anybody else who would pull the chain or slam the door but it did not register in my mind yet as a paranormal occurrence. I just sort of explained it as an overactive imagination on my part.

The next occurrence happened about an hour or so later. I was in a stock room on the second floor of our house and sorting stuff when I felt a cold chill. I looked around and I saw a black wispy thing floating just above my face. It kind of looked like a dirty cobweb but then cobwebs are usually stuck on a wall, not floating in mid-air and it seemed to be following me, albeit very, very slowly. As quietly as I could, I slowly walked out making sure the black wisp was not behind me until I reached the end of the stock room and ran down to the first floor.

On the first floor, I thought about it for a few minutes and gathered my courage to go back and take a picture of the black wisp with my camera-phone. TO my dismay the black wisp was gone when I entered the stock room. I kept on looking for it, at least until I heard the crashing sound. It seems a blank picture frame fell on the floor. However, I remembered that this particular frame was not hanging on a wall but lay on top of a flat table. Suffice it to say, that I ran back down, once again, as I had to proper explanation of how a frame lying flat in the center of a table could have fallen down due to physical causes.

I tried to forget that scary experience all throughout the afternoon until early evening when I had to pass the door to the stock room again on the way up to our house on the the fourth floor. Thankfully, nothing supernatural happened this time but the eerie chill was still there.

Hopefully in the morning when I wake up, all things should be beck to normal. This has been the first time I ever encountered what I think is a ghostly, paranormal occurrence. In fact, this is the reason I am chronicling it now. I'm hoping that this would be the first and last time I would have to live through something like that. My sleep tonight would most likely be troubled due to this : P *sigh* (as if I don't have enough trouble getting to sleep as it is)

Night all : )
